Product description
Kondapalli toys are traditionally crafted by a section of people called ‘Aryakula Kshatriya’ who are said to have migrated from Rajasthan 400 years ago. These wood painted toys add a fine creative touch to your drawing rooms with their finely created figurines. These are made from highly sought after soft wood named Tella Poniki , procured from the hills of Kondapalli. They are painted with natural colours like powder colours, oil colours and vegetable dyes, which sets the tone for an aesthetic ambience.
The multi-staged process for making these toys is quite interesting. The artisans etch out the shape of the toy they create from the white Poniki wood. This particular variety of wood is grown specially in the lands earmarked for this purpose in villages near Kondapalli. The lifestyle of rural Andhra, particularly in the old days, is represented in these toys with remarkable finesse and craftsmanship. The colour schemes and the shape of these toys are so attractive that no household in Andhra Pradesh is without these toys.
